When it comes to experimenting with recipes and styles, the sky’s the limit for Intergalactic Brewing Company. At just 25 years old, Alex Van Horne and Anthony Fusco launched the small nanobrewery among brewery giants like Green Flash and Karl Strauss in Mira Mesa. Starting on a small-scale 20-gallon system allows the brew duo to test recipes and styles and keep the selection varied, cranking out specialty craft brews as often as once a week.
In typical San Diego style, Intergalactic Brewing Company pours a variety of craft brews including Scottish ales, porters, IPAs, oatmeal stouts, and its gold medal award-winning Red Planet Rye. In addition to its familiar styles, Intergalactic experiments with a lineup of lagers that derive their flavor from an out-of-this-world assortment of edible ingredients like sweet potato, chili and jalapeno from its pilot taps in the brewery’s tasting room.
Intergalactic’s tasting room is open Wednesday and Thursday from 3-8 p.m., Friday from 3-9 p.m., Saturday from 1-7 p.m. and Sunday 1-6 p.m.
