Drink Beer at Dos Desperados Brewery, San Marcos, California

Turning passion into pints, owners Steve and Dora Munson were lured out of retirement by the brewing bug. Steve, a longtime homebrewer, and his wife Dora comprise of the two “desperados” that make up Dos Desperados Brewery, a small 7-barrel microbrewery and tasting room in San Marcos. Dos Desperados’ brews primarily consist of a range of heavily-hopped West Coast IPAs, as well as a lineup of Belgian-style brews. Embracing the California Craft Brewers Association’s motto that “the hallmark of craft beer and craft brewers is innovation,” Dos Desperados adds a new twist to old traditions, crafting beer in new, innovative styles that have no limits. A few of those inventive concoctions include the Fugitive Farmhouse Ale, a saison style with a hint of citrus and spice; Mamacita’s Crème Ale, a surprisingly crisp, refreshing ale; and the Two-Timer Scottish Ale, a slightly smoky, roasted-tasting ale. Tasting room hours are Wednesday and Thursday from 4-7 p.m., Friday from 4-9 p.m., Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
